Overview
To assist the Poetry Book Society Manager in the smooth running, growth and development of an iconic membership organisation and specialist online bookshop. Attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and a can-do attitude are a necessity. (3 days a week, 21hrs/week)

PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
- Excellent customer service and professional email and telephone manner
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Highly organised, able to complete a range of tasks to deadlines
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
- Experience or qualification in sales and marketing, or transferable skills from a related role
DESIRABLE
- Experience of database management (Microsoft Access or equivalent)
- Knowledge of website Content Management Systems and e-commerce stores (Shopify or equivalent)
- Experience of creating and scheduling email marketing campaigns, and segmenting audiences for improved engagement (Mailchimp or equivalent)
- Experience of creating marketing assets using Canva, Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign
- Experience in monitoring and analysing sales and performance data using Google Analytics or equivalent
- Familiarity with marketing tools such as Meta Business Suite, Google Ads
- An interest and enthusiasm for poetry and bookselling

- Excellent relationships with PBS members, customers, publishers and partners
- Efficient and accurate fulfilment of PBS website orders
- Growth of advertising income

Job Requirements
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage timely fulfilment of PBS website orders, including new memberships and renewals
- Maintain the PBS membership database on Microsoft Access and ensure accurate mailing lists supplied to mailing house
- Support the PBS Manager in growing membership and book sales through targeted marketing campaigns
- Answer member and customer queries via telephone, email and post
- Liaise with poetry publishers, distributors and wholesaler (Gardners) for book orders
- Set up and monitor publisher submissions on the Zealous platform
- Assist at in-person PBS bookstalls and in-person and online events
Job Responsibilities
Website Maintenance & Digital Marketing
- Upload and maintain product pages, blogs and collections on the PBS website
- Assist with membership focussed email marketing campaigns (for renewing and lapsed members)
- Support the PBS Manager in monitoring sales and analysing marketing performance against key metrics
- Assist with creating and scheduling digital marketing content across social media channels e.g. X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads and TikTok
- Manage and grow sales of advertising space in PBS print and digital publications / newsletters
- Proofreading and copywriting (including short poetry reviews for the quarterly PBS Bulletin)
