Job Summary
We are seeking two passionate and experienced Artivism Facilitators to lead our 4-month Artivism Programme, engaging young people (ages 16-26) in creative workshops that promote community building and social change through the arts.
Job Description
Facilitators will run weekly 2-hour workshops for 10 weeks , followed by a 2-day art-making weekend that culminates in a final exhibition . The role requires experienced facilitators with a socially engaged arts practice who can create an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring space for participants.
For the first three weeks , a Skaped team member will supervise and support the sessions; thereafter, facilitators will take full leadership of the programme. Prior to the start of the workshops, facilitators will be required to attend a training session that will be 12 hours in total, held over 2 weeks, paid at London Living wages , to familiarise themselves with the programme structure, workshop content, and organisational expectations.
Salary: 12 hours at £13.85/hour for training period, and then £150 per workshop (10 workshops) + 4 hours a week over 10 weeks for 1-to-1s at £13.85/hour. 2 days of art making, and a week of exhibition curation/installation at £1000 in total.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience in facilitating arts-based workshops with young people.
- A strong socially engaged arts practice and passion for artivism.
- Ability to connect with diverse communities and create inclusive spaces.
- Experience in event planning, curation, and exhibition preparation is a plus.
- Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently after the initial supervised periods.
- Familiarity with social justice issues, community building, and participatory art practices .
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate weekly 2-hour workshops for a group of 16-26-year-olds , fostering dialogue on art, activism, and social change.
- Lead a 2-day art-making weekend , guiding participants in creating impactful community-based artwork.
- Engage participants in creative processes that explore activism through art .
- Liaise with venues, artists, and organisations to coordinate workshop spaces and logistics.
- Handle set-up and clean-up of workshops.
- Provide 1-on-1 mentorship to participants, offering support and feedback.
- Support and facilitate the creation and curation of the final exhibition , working with participants in the week leading up to the showcase.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for open discussions and creative expression.
