Job Summary

The ideal candidate would be trained as a product designer, industrial designer, or draftsperson, with some workshop experience and the ability to assist with the fabrication of artworks when needed. Must have an interest in the arts, as well as metalworking and kinetic systems.

Required Skills

  • Good technical design and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace for communication and project organization
  • Proficiency with MS Office for organizing production schedules and components lists
  • Fabrication experience in a professional workshop, with a preference for metalworking experience
  • Knowledge of metalworking processes and finishes
  • Mechanical assembly experience across various scales of mechanical systems, with the ability to work from drawings and assemble confidently
  • Electronics assembly experience, including soldering, wiring, lighting, control boxes, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Electronics design experience, including PCB design, system design, assembly, and specifying components for safe and functional products
  • Mechanical design experience, primarily with gear and pulley systems, and specifying compatible components
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)

Required Work Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience working in an artist studio, design studio, or professional workshop
  • Experience in designing artworks or sculptures is preferred but not essential
