Job Summary

Provide specialist, person-centred support within projects while strengthening inclusive practice, staff confidence and systems across ZoieLogic.

Job Description

We're recruiting an Inclusive Practice Lead to join our team on a part-time, freelance basis: a specialist role holding inclusive practice and safeguarding expertise across our work.

Founded in 2000 by Artistic Director Zoie Golding MBE, ZoieLogic has spent 25 years redefining who dance is for, where it happens and what it can change. Our work spans five connected pillars, from boys' dance and men's creative health to placemaking, national touring and creative careers. We believe movement can create the conditions for confidence, connection, agency and change - for individuals, communities and, ultimately, systems.

A significant part of our work takes place in communities and with people who may experience barriers to accessing or participating in creative activity. This means that inclusive practice is not an additional layer to our work; it is fundamental to how we work.

You'll be the specialist point of reference for person-centred, inclusive practice: reading behaviour as communication, holding our safeguarding framework, feeding training across the facilitator team, and embedding tools like our participant profiles so specialist knowledge doesn't sit with one person alone.

What We're Looking For

  • A professional background in a person-centred, holistic discipline (for example occupational therapy, youth work, psychology, health visiting, social care or education), or significant experience in inclusive practice and safeguarding.

  • Strong experience in at least two of: inclusive practice and access; psychological, behavioural or person-centred practice; safeguarding.

  • Comfortable working with people and families where circumstances may be complex, and confident turning specialist insight into practical guidance for non-specialist teams.

  • Curious, person-centred, observant, calm and practical, someone who can challenge established practice without making people defensive.

  • Professional background matters more than a dance background.

Job Requirements

What success looks like:

  • A clear and practical ZoieLogic inclusive practice framework.

  • A shared approach to understanding and responding to behaviour.

  • Participant profiles being used meaningfully within relevant projects.

  • Facilitators feeling more confident in responding to different needs.

  • Clearer and more consistent safeguarding and pre-project practice conversations.

  • A defined training and development plan for the wider workforce.

  • Evidence that observations are leading to changes in practice.

  • Stronger consistency across projects without losing the flexibility to respond to different communities.

  • Clearer understanding within the organisation of when specialist support is needed.

  • A sustainable model for continuing specialist input beyond the initial six months.

Job Responsibilities

Lead on person-centred, inclusive practice across ZoieLogic, primarily within We Are Holyrood.

Provide practical and pastoral support for participants with complex access, behavioural, social or emotional needs, identifying barriers and strategies to enable engagement.

Develop and embed the behaviour framework, review safeguarding and inclusive practice, and support appropriate responses to complex situations.

Audit training needs and develop inclusive practice skills across the wider workforce.

Maintain participant profiles with facilitators, observe delivery across programmes, identify strengths and development needs, and share learning.

Build understanding of Holyrood's history and community context, developing relationships with relevant local partners, schools and services.

We value diverse lived experience and are especially keen to hear from those underrepresented in the arts, including individuals from the Global Majority, younger voices, and those with experience of disability, neurodiversity or other perspectives that challenge barriers and drive innovation.
