Overview
In this role you support the sound team on a large-scale West End production, assisting with daily sound checks, mic management, and onsite repairs while ensuring safety and smooth operation across rehearsals and performances. You collaborate with senior sound staff and the creative team to deliver reliable, high-quality sound for the show. You will engage across departments to maintain seamless show running and contribute to safety and process standards. This position offers hands-on experience in a high-profile live production and opportunities to influence sound quality and stage operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with sound equipment cleaning and daily checks to ensure readiness for performances
- Manage radio mics and mic packs, including fitting and changes as required
- Support mix coverage within the department with Head/Deputy Head of Sound
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations across the area of responsibility
- Develop collaborative relationships with Performing Company, Wardrobe, Wigs and Music departments for smooth show operation
- Attend rehearsals, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and understudy rehearsals as required
- Deal with emergency repairs and fixes to sound equipment and programmes
- Maintain tidy and secure work materials and sound equipment
- Comply with Health and Safety and other policies
- Support the Head/Deputy Head of Sound and Stage Manager in day-to-day sound operations
Key requirements
- Previous sound experience on a large-scale West End production
- Previous mix experience
- Experience and understanding of stage & show running etiquette
- Understanding and practical knowledge of theatre sound and electrical systems and safe working practices
