Overview

In this role you will oversee the London estate for the Royal Air Force Museum, ensuring buildings, infrastructure and services are safe, compliant and well maintained. You lead a small estates team and coordinate contractors to deliver maintenance, compliance and improvement projects. You will manage budgets, report on performance, and support strategic developments including exhibitions. The role sits at the heart of maintaining a heritage site with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. This is an opportunity to shape the long-term estate strategy of a nationally significant cultural institution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance and development of the London estate (buildings, infrastructure and building services)
  • Manage a small estates team providing leadership, support and development
  • Ensure compliance with estates, building and health and safety legislation and statutory requirements
  • Manage contractors, consultants and service providers for high-quality, cost-effective services
  • Specify, procure and deliver maintenance, refurbishment and minor capital projects
  • Manage delegated budgets and provide financial and performance reporting
  • Support strategic estates developments, exhibitions and wider museum projects
  • Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives through effective management

Key requirements

  • Relevant professional qualification or significant equivalent experience in estates, facilities or building services management
  • Experience managing a complex estate, including building maintenance, M&E services and statutory compliance
