Job Summary
Everybody Arts is seeking an emerging socially engaged artist for an eight-month traineeship in Calderdale. Develop your creative practice while gaining experience in artist development, community engagement, research and cultural strategy, helping shape a more inclusive future for the visual arts.
Job Description
This role is part of, and will support the delivery of, a project funded by Arts Council England through its National Lottery Project Grants programme. The project will strengthen our artist-led programming, enabling us to better support underrepresented visual artists and engage underserved communities.
The project represents an exciting moment in our development as a charity. By strengthening our support for artists and deepening relationships with communities, we are building our capacity for the future while contributing to a more resilient, inclusive and ambitious visual arts ecology across Calderdale.
This eight-month traineeship offers an emerging socially engaged artist the opportunity to develop their creative practice while helping shape the future of visual arts in Calderdale.
Working three days a week alongside the Directors and Everybody Arts team, you'll contribute to an ambitious organisational development project that will create a new five-year strategy for artist development and cultural participation. Through research, consultation and creative engagement, you'll help ensure the voices of artists and communities are central to the future direction of Everybody Arts.
This is more than a work placement. As a member of the project team, you'll bring your own experiences, ideas and creative perspective to a process that aims to strengthen opportunities for artists, increase participation in the visual arts and build a more inclusive cultural sector.
The traineeship is designed to support your development as an artist while giving you practical experience of cultural leadership, artist development, research and organisational strategy. Throughout the placement you'll receive mentoring, professional development and dedicated time to reflect on your own creative practice.
