Contract: Permanent, working 35 hours a week. Arts Council also recognises the benefit of flexible working as a valued part of the way we work, and welcomes applications from individuals who require flexibility.

Salary: £50,468 per annum Grade B plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.

Location: Birmingham or Bristol. The role will be based in any of the locations listed; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members of the team, normally 1-2 days a week.

Introduction: We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead on relationship management, stakeholder engagement and capital grant monitoring across the Midlands and South West, helping to ensure our capital investment delivers lasting impact for communities. Arts Council England delivers a range of capital investment programmes that support the long-term sustainability of creative and cultural organisations across England by investing in assets and infrastructure. This role sits within the Capital Relationships and Monitoring Team. In 2026/27, Arts Council England will manage and administer three capital programmes on behalf of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS):

  • The Creative Foundations Fund
  • Museum Estate and Development Fund
  • Libraries Improvement Fund

Role Details: Reporting to the Director, Capital, you’ll lead on grant assessment and monitoring, stakeholder relationships, and risk management across capital investment programmes in the Midlands and South West. Working with regional and national colleagues, you’ll ensure our investments deliver strong outcomes, value for money, and impact for communities. You’ll be a confident, inclusive and collaborative leader who can set direction, motivate and develop a team, make sound decisions, manage risk and performance, and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure capital investments deliver clear outcomes, measurable impact and lasting benefits for communities.

If you have experience managing complex funding or grant programmes, strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams, expertise in risk management, compliance and performance monitoring, the ability to build relationships and influence at a senior level, and an understanding of the challenges facing cultural organisations, we want to hear from you.
