We are looking for a female support worker to support a young person with additional needs in our Youth Theatre.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring support worker to aid the wellbeing and pastoral care of this young person.
We are keen that this person becomes part of the team and is happy to support the whole group and join in where necessary.
- Fixed term freelance contract
- Place of work: St John's Methodist Church Bridlington
- Hours: Wednesday evenings 6.15pm-8.30pm
- Fee: £20 per hour

Job Requirements
Essential
- Experience working with young people in a pastoral, educational or youth work setting.
- Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and youth mental health.
- Experience of first aid.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Empathetic, calm, and non-judgmental approach.
- Able to manage sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Experience working with young people of diverse backgrounds, including those with neurodiversities or disabilities.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively
- A contract will only be offered on receipt of an Enhanced DBS check (we can support you to get one) and two references.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
Desirable
- Knowledge of or interest in theatre and participatory arts.
- First Aid and/or Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- Experience of dealing with seizures or seizure-like symptoms
- Job Responsibilities
- Build positive and appropriate relationships with young people.
- Model good behaviour- taking part in creative exercises and games where appropriate.
- Provide pastoral support during workshops, rehearsals, trips and events.
- Provide additional support to identified participants who may need extra support due to access requirements.
- Work with the lead Artist to ensure a safe, respectful, inclusive environment.
- Observe and report any safeguarding concerns to ARCADE adhering to our Safeguarding Policy.
- Attend required short training sessions as required.
- Help maintain an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere at all times.
- Ensure that in the event of first aid or medical event e. g. a seizure, the young person is appropriately supported and supervised.
- Make decisions and take actions that support the young person's wellbeing and safety should unusual circumstances occur.
- Punctual attendance for all scheduled sessions.
- There is personal care involved in this role.
