Paid freelance Creative Producer for a free monthly theatre community event in London. Β£2,750 fee for 3 nights run, social media and audience building.

Job Description

We are launching a free monthly community gathering and we are looking for a creative producer specialising in creative, emotionally intelligent events to help us build the first three.

THE NIGHT

  • A free community gathering on Sunday evenings, once a month
  • New pieces of writing, about 10 to 15 minutes each
  • Electronic music and movement are part of the night
  • A format that is new to London, and has worked abroad for over three decades (more info upon application)
  • A night for creatives to fall back in love with their craft, built around the reality of being a working artist
  • We are aiming for 50 to 100 people each night
  • Night 1 is Sunday 17 January, with Nights 2 and 3 following monthly

THE TERMS

  • Paid: Β£2,750 flat fee for the whole contract, paid in instalments
  • Budgeted at up to 144 working hours in total, depending on experience. This is not a fixed 9 to 5. You set your own hours, and what matters is that the tasks are completed and the deadlines previously agreed on are met.
  • Starting in late November and running to March
  • Self employed, mostly remote, plus in person at each monthly night
  • A three-night contract, with the possibility of a longer term role if the events go well
  • You must be physically present for all 3 nights

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

  • We will contact shortlisted candidates only, by Friday 13 November
  • Interviews take place week commencing 16 November

Job Requirements

  • You have filled a room from nothing before
  • You are proficient at social media: clear, consistent and comfortable with simple tools such as Canva. You can edit catchy short reels from phone footage
  • You are part of the London art scene
  • You are connected to creatives of many kinds, including writers, actors, musicians and comedians, or know how to reach them
  • You thrive in a multicultural environment and are emotionally intelligent
  • You enjoy thinking outside the box
  • You are free on Sunday 17 January. This is mandatory: Night 1 cannot move.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create the mood of the night, in the room and online, alongside Big Sister's Artistic Director, who hosts the evening
  • Build the marketing plan from our starting draft, then carry it out for each night
  • Plan, make and publish social media posts in a consistent voice, including short videos edited from footage of the night
  • Reach actors, writers and other creatives through networks and communities
  • Open free ticketing and build a simple tracker we can both read
  • Run the door and the welcome on the night
  • Track what works on the marketing side and tell us
  • Job Title: CREATIVE PRODUCER (FREELANCE, PAID)
  • What an emotionally intelligent gathering looks like to you. Tell us about a night you loved, an event you want to build, or what other gatherings could be doing differently (up to 200 words)
  • Your CV and links to social accounts you have run, or posts you are proud of, with a line on what happened. A portfolio works too
  • A gathering or audience you helped build from nothing: what you did, who came, what you learned and what you would carry forward. It can be outside the arts (up to 200 words)
  • How you are connected to the creative scene in London (2 lines or so)
  • Contact name: Klervi Gavet, Artistic Director (she/her)
