Artisan Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established turnkey construction company who are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join their dynamic team in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role within a growing organisation, offering a competitive salary and an outstanding benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a full estimating service across assigned projects and/or a wider project portfolio.
- Prepare detailed tender estimates from first principles using Conquest estimating software, utilising previous experience, production outputs, subcontractor quotations and material costs.
- Review and analyse project documentation to identify potential commercial and technical risks.
- Lead and participate in pre-tender reviews and sign-off meetings with senior colleagues.
- Conduct site visits to assess project-specific challenges, access requirements and logistical considerations.
- Proactively liaise, negotiate and build strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, including inflation, exchange rates and cost trends.
- Gather feedback from site teams to improve estimating accuracy and maintain realistic cost data.
- Lead and support handover meetings with contracts and commercial teams, ensuring full understanding of tender details and project complexities prior to contract award.
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Civils Estimator within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of building regulations and civil engineering processes.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Valid CSCS card.
- Full UK driving licence.
