We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist in hand-applied micro asphalt surfacing, delivering high-quality, durable solutions across the UK’s road and footway network. We are Investors in People Platinum and pride ourselves on doing the right thing for our customers, our people, and our roads. We’re looking for a Surveyor/Scoper to support the planning, surveying, and preparation works ahead of laying crews. Ideally based in or near Malpas, Cheshire, the role will involve working across multiple contracts throughout the North. Travel and occasional overnight stays will be required, so this role suits someone who enjoys being outdoors, solving problems, and working independently.
Salary: Competitive, up to £42,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out accurate surveys for microasphalt and minor civils works
- Identify TM needs, access issues, prep works, and commercial factors
- Complete site mark ups, weedkill, letter drops, and board installations
- Perform safety inspections on vehicles, mixers, plant, and dump sites
- Produce high-quality morning client updates with photos
- Assist crews to start the day smoothly with proactive support
- Conduct post-work inspections including remeasures
- Assist with BBA and TAIT sampling
- Contribute to contract accuracy, programme delivery, and customer excellence
- Support apprentices and junior team members
- Experience in highways, civils, or surfacing (preferred but not essential)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Digitally confident (tablets, Confirm, photos)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently across multiple sites
- Full UK driving licence
- Comfortable with physical outdoor work
