We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist in hand-applied micro asphalt surfacing, known for delivering high-quality, durable solutions across the UK’s road and footway network.
We are looking to recruit a couple of individuals to support our preparation works ahead of our laying crews. Ideally, candidates will be based in or near Malpas, Cheshire. However, the role will involve working across multiple contracts throughout the North. A willingness to travel and occasionally stay away is essential, so this role would suit someone who enjoys working in different locations.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role involving a wide range of highway and groundwork activities, playing a key part in ensuring sites are ready for surfacing operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Surface preparation including blowing, cleaning, jet washing, and mechanical scraping
- Vegetation clearance and cutting back undergrowth
- Hand excavations and lifting ironwork
- General labouring duties such as:
- Footway repairs
- Breaking out hard surfaces
- Reinstatement of tarmac, grass, and landscaped areas
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors year-round
- Reliable, self-motivated, and willing to learn
- Strong practical skills with a team-oriented approach
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently when required
- Full, clean UK driving licence (LGV entitlement is advantageous)
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
Previous fieldwork or tarmacing experience is beneficial but not essential—full training will be provided.
