Artisan Recruitment are working with an established and growing Mechanical & Electrical Contractor based in Southampton seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its pre-construction team. The business delivers a wide range of M&E projects throughout the South of England and has built a strong reputation for quality, technical expertise, and long-term client relationships. Operating across multiple sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Logistics, Healthcare, and High-End Residential, the company continues to secure prestigious projects and requires an additional estimator to support its expanding workload.

The Role

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical installations on projects ranging from small works through to major design-and-build schemes. Working closely with the pre-construction, commercial, and operational teams, you will play a key role in securing new business opportunities and ensuring tenders are delivered to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and employer requirements.
  • Prepare detailed electrical estimates and cost plans for a variety of M&E projects.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Carry out take-offs and quantify materials, labour, and plant requirements.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal departments throughout the tender process.
  • Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings when required.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and bid documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and tender information.
  • Support handover meetings with project delivery teams following successful contract awards.
  • Monitor market trends, labour rates, and material costs to ensure competitive pricing.
