Artisan Recruit are looking for a Painter on a perm basis for a company based in Chichester. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of painting and decorating works to a high standard across commercial, retail, heritage, and domestic properties throughout the UK. Works may include planned maintenance, reactive repairs, refurbishment projects, specialist coating applications, and heritage restoration works.
Key Responsibilities
- Internal and external painting and decorating works
- Surface preparation including sanding, filling, stripping, and making good
- Application of primers, undercoats, and finishing coats
- Wallpaper hanging and decorative finishes where required
- Timber repairs and preparation prior to decoration
- Applying specialist coatings, stains, varnishes, and protective finishes
- Working from specifications, drawings, and client instructions
- Maintaining clean and safe working environments
- Ensuring all works are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales
- Accurately recording works completed and reporting any defects identified
- Operating company tools, equipment, and vehicles safely
Desired Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Painting & Decorating
- City & Guilds Painting & Decorating qualification
- PASMA qualification
- IPAF qualification
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Proven experience in painting and decorating
- Experience working within commercial, retail, heritage, and domestic environments is advantageous
- Good understanding of surface preparation techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Willingness to travel and occasionally work away from home when required
