Pastry Chef in Salisbury

We are an independent artisan bakery and cafe based in Salisbury, Wiltshire. We offer a selection of on‑site produced breads and pastries to a wide customer base: from regulars, to overseas tourists. We are situated on the market square in Salisbury, and are especially busy on market days. We continuously produce new and innovative products for our customers. We are a small, efficient, motivated team, looking for a pastry chef with baking experience, or baker, to join us in creating and baking all our amazing breads and pastries.

Key responsibilities of the job:

• Preparation & Baking: Mix ingredients, knead and shape doughs for breads, pastries, and other items, and use ovens to bake them to perfection.
• Quality Control: Monitor baking times and temperatures, ensure products meet quality standards, and maintain the freshness and consistency of all baked goods.
• Kitchen Management: Organise ingredients, maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen space, and ensure all equipment is clean and in proper working order.
• Inventory & Stock: Track ingredients, manage stock levels, assist with deliveries, and ensure proper stock rotation.
• Food Safety: Adhere to food safety standards and regulations, including proper handling and storage of chemicals and consumables.

The job involves working night and day shifts, on a rotational basis. Shifts / hours will be arranged in discussion with our head baker / co‑owner of the business to ensure products are produced on time.

The rate of pay offered is based on experience and skill level. We offer free food and coffee as part of the job.
