This is a hands‑on role for someone who combines strong employee relations expertise with a pragmatic, commercial and people‑focused approach. You’ll be comfortable navigating sensitive and complex situations, coaching managers through challenging issues and identifying opportunities to continuously improve how the People function operates.
What will you be doing?
You’ll take responsibility for the operational People function, ensuring managers receive a responsive, high-quality service across a broad range of People matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert, practical advice and support to managers across a range of People issues
- Managing and advising on employee relations cases, including more complex and sensitive situations
- Coaching managers to build their confidence and capability in managing people effectively
- Building strong relationships across the organisation and becoming a trusted People partner
- Driving continuous improvement across People processes, systems and ways of working
- Taking ownership of allocated strategic People projects and organisational priorities
- Supporting the organisation with People-related data protection and confidentiality matters
- Ensuring sensitive employee information is handled appropriately and professionally
- Working independently and using your judgement to find pragmatic solutions to People challenges
About you
You’ll be an experienced People professional with a strong operational HR background and a genuine passion for helping managers and organisations get the best from their people.
You’ll bring:
- Strong employee relations and case management experience
- Confidence coaching and advising managers
- Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills
- A pragmatic, hands‑on approach and the ability to work independently
- Experience of improving People processes and ways of working
- An understanding of data protection, confidentiality and sensitive employee information
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver strategic People projects
- CIPD qualification or equivalent experience
Experience of working within a charity, public sector, social care, healthcare or similarly complex environment would be highly valuable.
Most importantly, you’ll be comfortable working within a safeguarding-focused organisation and have the judgement, professionalism and emotional intelligence required to deal appropriately with sensitive and complex employee matters.
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to join an organisation where the People function genuinely matters.
You’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible difference - supporting managers, improving the employee experience, strengthening People processes and contributing to wider organisational priorities.
