We are looking for a skilled and personable Forward Deployed Engineer to build strong client relationships in order to build, configure and deliver technical solutions to meet individual client needs. The role combines programming expertise with a deep understanding of the insurance/insurtech space, comprising engineering, sales, and client success. Successful candidates will join an established and growing team to meet the demands of growth, working collaboratively with Engineering, Product and Commercial teams. You will be responsible for proof of value / pilot projects that are pivotal to our growth strategy.

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week based at our HQ or at client site (City of London).

About The Role

  • Lead the analysis of prospective partners’ and clients’ business requirements, translating them into robust technical solutions using our domain-specific, spreadsheet-like functional programming language, Brossa.
  • Own the design, configuration and delivery of formal specifications for insurance products across multiple lines of business (e.g. marine, aviation, political violence).
  • Act as a trusted technical partner to clients, shaping solutions that align with their strategic goals and constraints.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering and commercial teams to customise and configure the platform for client needs.
  • Build and manage platform integrations, ensuring reliable delivery and ongoing technical support.
  • Demonstrate product value and technical credibility to senior internal and client stakeholders.

About You

  • You have a strong foundation in programming and are comfortable working with domain-specific or functional languages.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including client leadership.
  • You thrive in a fast-changing scale-up environment and are comfortable operating with ambiguity and autonomy.
  • You are solutions-driven, with a continuous improvement mindset towards systems and processes.
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and enjoy tackling complex, real-world problems.
  • You are able to learn new platforms and domains quickly and apply that knowledge effectively.

We especially want to hear from you if you have:

  • Collaborative skills with an emphasis on product quality.
  • Experience in insurtech, insurance or related industries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a distributed work environment.

Benefits

  • Private medical insurance.
  • Income protection insurance.
  • Life insurance of 4 * base salary.
  • On-site gym and shower facilities.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
  • Team social events and company parties.
  • Salary exchange on pension and nursery fees.
  • Access to Maji, the financial wellbeing platform.
  • Company stock options managed through Ledgy.
  • Milestone Birthday Bonus and a Life Events leave policy.
  • Generous holiday allowance of 28 days plus national holidays.
  • Home office and equipment allowance, and a company MacBook.
  • Learning allowance and leave to attend conferences or take exams.
  • YuLife employee benefits, including EAP and bereavement helplines.
  • For each new hire, we plant a tree through our partnership with Ecologi Action.
  • The best coffee machine in London, handmade in Italy and imported just for us!

We’re proud to be an equal opportunities employer and are committed to building a team that reflects the diverse communities around us. If there’s anything you need to make the hiring process more accessible, just let us know—we’re happy to make adjustments. You’re also welcome to share your preferred pronouns with us at any point. Think you don’t meet every requirement? Please apply anyway. We value potential as much as experience, and we know that raw talent counts.
