About the role
- Design, implement, and maintain robust security infrastructure (audits, assessments) and protocols.
- Monitor and analyse security alerts, ensuring timely response to potential threats, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders during responses.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks, perform threat modelling using frameworks such as STRIDE and Mitre ATT&CK to identify and address potential security threats.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (esp. SRE and Product) to ensure security is integrated into all stages of product development.
- Stay current with the latest security trends, threats, and technology solutions.
- Participate in compliance‑related processes and activities to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Guide and train employees on security best practices.
About you
- Proven experience in a similar security‑focused role, ideally within the tech or fintech industry.
- In‑depth understanding of cloud‑native security, particularly with AWS.
- Solid CS basis: algorithms, networking, big‑O, etc.
- Ability to write software to automate, analyse, and demonstrate attacks, or suggest improvements to our engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, and authorisation.
- Experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls intrusion detection systems, SIEM).
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards such as GDPR, Cyber Essentials+, ISO/IEC 27001.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced distributed environment.
- Optional bonus: Prior experience of working in a regulated industry such as Finance or Insurance.
