Main purpose of the job: Promote and engender a "Safety First" culture within the facility, conducting regular safety checks on work areas and equipment. Meet all key performance metrics for Safety function.

Main missions and results:

  • Stay abreast of current occupational legislation and requirements to maintain workplace compliance.
  • Meet all key performance indicators and metrics for safety.
  • Manage the Day-to-Day control of Potential Incidents, driving the culture by measuring our progress against 1 PI per Month per Employee as a Minimum.
  • Manage current Risk profile, ensuring that each Risk Assessment is reviewed on an annual basis or following an Accident/change.
  • Manage Plant Chemical register ensuring we have a CoSHH assessment for each chemical and how it is used.
  • Ensure that up to date MSDS are available for all products on the chemical register.
  • Support departments with PCA HSE oversight and approval when required, conduct PUWER Assessments when required, and REBA Assessments where required.
  • Oversee the regular checks of the Eye Wash stations, Spill Kits and First Aid rooms.
  • Conduct Noise Assessments when required.
  • Compile the HSE Monthly Dashboard, and data slides for Quarterly HSE Meetings.
  • Responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions and implementing solutions to remove.
  • Take samples of hazardous material, and coordinate the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards.
  • Train employees on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety including Fire Marshall and Risk Assessment training.
  • Facilitate inductions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation and ensure necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
  • Perform Health and Safety audits and inspections, providing auditors/inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
  • Contribute ideas for improving health and safety processes, behaviours and reporting to strengthen overall site performance.

Preferred Skills And Experience:

  • It is desirable for candidates to hold a NEBOSH qualification.
  • Candidates must have excellent organisational and communicational skills as well as a strong sense of urgency and an ability to manage priorities and work under pressure.
  • They must be highly flexible and adaptable with the ability to work as an individual or as part of a team and to work on their own initiative when required.
  • A willingness to learn and undertake tasks when required by the business.
  • Candidates will ideally have previous experience in a health and safety role.
