Artichoke is a specialist interior design and bespoke joinery practice working on some of the most significant private homes in the UK and abroad. We’re expanding our creative team and seeking a designer with strong spatial understanding, refined architectural awareness and an eye for detail.

About the Role

You will develop fully resolved design concepts for fitted furniture and architectural joinery across kitchens, boot rooms, libraries, studies and whole-house projects. The role suits someone who enjoys working at an architectural level - shaping proportion, materiality and detail to create interiors that endure.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop room layouts that are well ordered, well proportioned and grounded in ergonomic principles.
  • Shape furniture and joinery detailing aligned with the building’s character.
  • Specify materials, finishes, appliances, lighting and ironmongery to meet brief and budget.
  • Prepare clear concept design drawing packages for handover to Technical Design and Production.
  • Oversee specialist items (metalwork, glass, ceramics, decorative elements) to ensure alignment with the design intent.
  • Maintain continuity of design intent through technical development.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, architects and contractors.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp (3D rendering experience beneficial).
  • Confident working with proportion, materiality and spatial design.
  • Strong attention to detail and clarity of thought.
  • A collaborative, professional and measured approach.
  • A background in architecture is an advantage.
