About the Role
The Junior AC Engineer will play a vital role in supporting our experienced engineering team in the delivery of a wide range of air conditioning projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual with a passion for mechanical systems and a desire to develop their career within the building services sector. You will gain hands-on experience, learn from industry experts, and contribute to projects that impact building performance and occupant well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on assistance during the installation of AC systems, including refrigerant pipework, ductwork, and electrical connections, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
- Participate in the commissioning of AC systems, assisting with functional testing, performance verification, and system balancing under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Undertake routine maintenance tasks on existing AC systems, including filter changes, coil cleaning, and basic system checks.
- Assist in diagnosing and rectifying faults and breakdowns.
- Adhere strictly to all company health and safety policies and procedures, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
- Actively seek opportunities for professional development, staying up-to-date with industry best practices, new technologies, and relevant regulations.
- Work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues, site personnel, and clients to ensure project success.
Qualifications and Skills
- A strong understanding of fundamental mechanical principles and an interest in HVAC systems.
- NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heating Systems (or equivalent).
- F-Gas & ODS Regulations (Category I) – Handling Fluorinated Gases and ODS – City & Guilds (2079-11) (or equivalent).
- Ability to identify issues, think logically, and contribute to finding effective solutions.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and contribute positively.
- A proactive attitude and a strong desire to acquire new skills and knowledge.
- Familiarity with AC components and principles (e.g., refrigeration cycle, heat transfer) is a strong advantage.
