Syndicate Reporting Manager London | Hybrid – three days per week in the office £85,000–£95,000 plus bonus and benefits
Arthur is partnering with a growing specialty insurance and reinsurance business to appoint a Syndicate Reporting Manager. Reporting to the Head of Reporting, this is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Senior or Syndicate Accountant ready to step into their first management position.
The role combines hands‑on Lloyd’s reporting with the opportunity to improve processes, strengthen controls and help build a standalone reporting capability. You will take ownership of key reporting deliverables while managing and developing one direct report.
Key Responsibilities
- Own month‑end reporting, management accounts and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and review syndicate management accounts, including analysis of underwriting performance and movements.
- Produce Lloyd’s returns, including QMA, QMB, Flash reporting and annual returns.
- Support Solvency UK and wider regulatory reporting requirements.
- Play a central role in preparing the syndicate annual report and financial statements.
- Own key balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure reporting outputs remain audit‑ready.
- Investigate and resolve reporting and data inconsistencies across different systems.
- Work closely with actuarial, underwriting, operations and other finance stakeholders.
- Manage third‑party providers supporting syndicate accounting, monitoring delivery against agreed standards.
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Strengthen reporting processes, controls and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting and reduce manual intervention.
- Help bring greater ownership of Lloyd’s reporting capability in‑house.
Candidate Profile
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant.
- Strong experience within Lloyd’s syndicate accounting or reporting.
- Hands‑on experience producing Lloyd’s returns, particularly QMA and QMB.
- Good knowledge of syndicate management accounts and financial statements.
- Understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Able to analyse and clearly explain financial and underwriting movements.
- Comfortable working in a growing, lean and hands‑on environment.
- Strong attention to detail, financial control and delivery.
- Ambitious, proactive and ready to take on broader ownership.
- Experience with IFRS 17, Phinsys, NetSuite, outsourced service providers or an evolving managing agency environment would be advantageous.
Why Consider the Opportunity
This is not simply a BAU reporting position. It offers the opportunity to step into management, work closely with an experienced Head of Reporting and help shape how the syndicate reporting function operates as the business continues to grow.
