I'm currently partnering with a leading global Lloyd's market insurer looking to appoint a Catastrophe Risk Lead to focus on non‐natural catastrophe exposure management across worldwide risks. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced exposure management professional to take ownership of a highly visible portfolio, working closely with Underwriting, Actuarial, and Risk teams to support strategic decision‐making, portfolio optimisation, and capital management across multiple international entities. The role will suit someone with strong non‐nat cat modelling expertise who enjoys combining technical analysis with stakeholder leadership and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading exposure management and catastrophe modelling activities for non‐natural catastrophe lines of business across global portfolios
- Supporting underwriting teams with risk assessment, risk selection, portfolio management, and reinsurance placement decisions
- Providing exposure analytics and catastrophe loss guidance to senior management, actuarial, and risk teams for capital setting and utilisation
- Managing the full exposure management cycle including data capture, validation, analysis, interpretation, and stakeholder reporting
- Delivering clear, concise reporting and portfolio insights to both internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting development projects across risk aggregation, pricing, and underwriting tools
- Evaluating and improving catastrophe risk management systems, software, and modelling processes
- Acting as a subject matter expert across non‐natural catastrophe modelling and exposure analytics
- Driving continuous improvement across day‐to‐day exposure management processes
- Coaching and developing junior team members while working collaboratively across wider business functions
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong experience within catastrophe modelling and exposure management, ideally focused on non‐natural catastrophe risks
- Excellent numerical and analytical capability
- Strong understanding of the (re)insurance industry, particularly within the London Market
- Proven experience supporting underwriting and portfolio management decisions through catastrophe analytics
- Exposure to risk aggregation, capital modelling, and catastrophe risk reporting
- Knowledge of catastrophe modelling platforms and proprietary risk systems
- Programming experience with SQL, R, Python, or VBA would be advantageous
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
- Excellent organisational skills and the confidence to take ownership of key business issues
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong cross‐functional relationships
