Arthur is working with a global insurance company seeking to hire a Head of Operational Controls & Risk to join their COO function.

This newly created role offers the successful candidate an opportunity to make a significant impact by strengthening the operational resilience of the services provided by the Operations function. You will lead a team, focusing on effective data management, improving control effectiveness, and ensuring quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct and oversee Risk & Control Self-Assessments, support transformation initiatives, and review outsourcing arrangements to align with risk appetite.
  2. Establish and monitor controls for compliance with policies, regulations, and standards, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  3. Enhance efficiency through better data quality, improved processes, and collaboration with finance operations.
  4. Ensure data is managed consistently, securely, and in line with policies, including lifecycle management and quality control.
  5. Provide quality assurance on reconciliations and report risk and control issues to senior management.
  6. Ensure adherence to laws and policies while engaging with internal and external audit teams.
  7. Address operational incidents promptly and work with audit teams on remediation.
  8. Partner with IT, Finance, Compliance, and others to drive process and control improvements.
  9. Facilitate training on risk management and control procedures in collaboration with the Service Delivery team.
  10. Oversee the budget for the Operational Controls & Risk team.
