Application Support Manager London | Hybrid Working | Up to £100,000 + Bonus + Benefits

A leading global financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Application Support Manager to join its Technology function and take ownership of a portfolio of business-critical Front Office applications.

This is a high-profile role responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, availability and continual improvement of applications that support core business operations.

Acting as the key link between business stakeholders, technology teams and third-party suppliers, you will play a critical role in delivering operational excellence and a first-class support service.

The Role

You will be responsible for the operational ownership of a portfolio of enterprise applications, ensuring services remain stable, secure and aligned to business requirements.

Working closely with business users, technology teams and external vendors, you will lead major incident management, oversee change and release activities, drive service improvements and ensure application services continue to meet agreed operational and performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the operational support and service performance of business-critical applications.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for application-related incidents and service issues.
  • Lead major incident management activities and coordinate technical teams, suppliers and business stakeholders.
  • Drive root cause analysis and problem management initiatives to reduce recurring issues.
  • Oversee application change, release and deployment activities.
  • Manage third-party suppliers and support partners, ensuring service levels are achieved.
  • Produce operational reporting, KPI dashboards and service performance updates.
  • Ensure applications remain secure, supported and compliant with governance requirements.
  • Support application lifecycle activities including upgrades, enhancements and retirement planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across support processes, tooling and automation.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience within Application Support, Application Management or IT Operations environments.
  • Experience supporting business-critical enterprise applications.
  • Strong incident, problem and change management experience.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and outsourced service providers.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working within regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management principles.
  • Experience leading or mentoring support teams and matrix-managed resources.

Desirable

  • Financial Services or Insurance sector experience.
  • Experience supporting Front Office, Trading, Revenue Generating or Operational applications.
  • Exposure to cloud-based platforms and modern application environments.
  • ITIL certification or equivalent service management experience.
