Purpose of the Role The Internal Sales Representative plays a central role in driving revenue growth through proactive customer engagement, sales support, and collaboration with external sales teams. Working within a well-established UK manufacturer of industrial chain products, the role involves identifying opportunities, nurturing customer relationships, and providing technically sound solutions to customers in engineering, OEM, and distribution sectors. Key Responsibilities 1. Lead Generation & Sales Development ·Generate and qualify new business leads via telephone, email, and digital outreach. ·Identify opportunities within target sectors (engineering, manufacturing, and distribution). ·Maintain and update customer data in the CRM system. 2. Customer Relationship Management ·Build, develop, and sustain strong relationships with both new and existing customers. ·Provide excellent customer service, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to enquiries and quotations. ·Proactively follow up on quotes and orders to maximise conversion rates. 3. Sales Support & Coordination ·Prepare quotations, proposals, and order documentation in line with customer requirements. ·Liaise with the operations, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products. ·Support the external sales team by sharing lead intelligence and coordinating on key accounts. 4. Upselling & Product Knowledge ·Promote the company’s full product and service offering, identifying opportunities for upselling or cross-selling. ·Apply technical knowledge of chains, sprockets, and related engineering components to offer tailored solutions. ·Keep abreast of new products, technologies, and market trends. 5. Collaboration & Reporting ·Work closely with external sales, marketing, and production teams to deliver consistent messaging and a joined-up customer experience. ·Produce regular reports and forecasts on sales performance, pipeline activity, and customer feedback. ·Contribute to sales meetings and input into strategy development. Skills & Attributes Essential: ·Proven experience in internal sales, telesales, or customer service (ideally within manufacturing, engineering, or distribution). ·Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels. ·Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications. ·Commercially aware with strong attention to detail and follow-through. ·Team player with a proactive, customer-focused attitude. Desirable: ·Background in mechanical engineering, industrial components, or supply chain/distribution. ·Understanding of industrial chain products or related sectors ·Experience supporting field sales teams in a technical or manufacturing environment. Qualifications ·Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. ·Further education or qualifications in Sales, Business, or Engineering (advantageous). ·Full right to work in the UK
