Day Shifts (Monday to Friday) - Alternate Week Shift Pattern (6am-3pm / 9am-6pm)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for controlling the movement of Lorries within the yard, maintaining a safe area at all times.
- Ensure all relevant Standard Operating Procedures and Working Instructions are adhered to at all times.
- Ensure the quality of raw stockpiles are kept at optimum levels.
- Ensure the yard and weighbridge areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- Cover the weighbridge as required including holiday cover.
- Responsible for inspecting all incoming loads prior to, during and after tipping.
- Report any issues with incoming loads to the relevant personnel and complete any required paperwork.
- Report any other issues that may come to your attention in the yard area such as H&S, quality, engineering and damages, completing any job request forms or other paperwork that may be required.
- Monitor all site waste skips on an ongoing basis and report any issues or exchanges required.
- Remove colour, ceramics, metals, pyro-ceramics, paper, plastics and any other contaminants from raw stock deliveries.
- Assist with plant breakdowns or engineering tasks as required within your capabilities.
- Ensure you have the correct PPE for any given tasks, in an appropriate condition and is being worn correctly.
- Assist in the cleaning of the plant.
- Complete any paperwork required.
- Accept and check deliveries of parts and spares being delivered into the yard area, inform the relevant personnel, sign delivery notes and return them to the office.
- For deliveries of screens, lag films, lag cardboard tubes, lag and mag glasses and capping rubbers make sure they are put away and stored in their correct locations.
- Maintain sufficient stocks of pre-cut cardboard tubes and screen rubbers.
- Maintain a stock level of cardboard tubes and lag films.
- Periodically during the day check processed stockpiles and remove any visible contaminants.
- Keep yard drains flowing and free from blockages.
- Ensure perimeter fences are kept litter free and report any damage.
- Keep the smoking shelter and surrounding area clean and tidy.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards around skips and containers.
- Step in and cover plant production duties as required and in times of labour shortages.
- Carry out quality tests as required.
- Operate, maintain and fill up with diesel the Tennant Sweeper.
- Operate, maintain and fill up with diesel the FLT.
- Carry out any other duties as required by business needs that are within your capabilities.
- Assist the Maintenance team during plant downtimes ensuring you are either supervised or fully conversant with the task requirements and safety needs.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Good knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Hold an IOSH managing safely certificate (Preferred).
- Hold a First Aiders certificate.
- Hold a Fire Awareness certificate.
- Hold a current FLT license.
