The Senior Operational Resilience Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's operational resilience and business continuity capabilities. The role ensures the business is prepared to respond effectively to operational disruption, supports crisis management activities, and drives continual improvement across resilience practices.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, the post holder will help embed resilience into day-to-day operations, oversee resilience testing programmes, manage third-party resilience arrangements, and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the organisation's Operational Resilience Framework, ensuring resilience objectives are embedded across the business.
  • Identify and assess critical business services, establish impact tolerances, and coordinate resilience scenario testing.
  • Define and oversee the Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework, ensuring business continuity plans remain effective, current, and regularly tested.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to business leaders on resilience, continuity planning, and incident preparedness.
  • Coordinate the organisation's response to operational incidents, supporting crisis management teams and facilitating effective decision-making during disruptive events.
  • Lead post-incident reviews to identify root causes, capture lessons learned, and oversee the implementation of improvement actions.
  • Design and deliver resilience exercises, including tabletop, simulation, and live testing activities to validate operational readiness.
  • Produce meaningful management information and reporting on resilience performance, key risks, testing outcomes, and improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory expectations and industry best practice, ensuring organisational frameworks remain compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Work collaboratively with Risk, Technology, Information Security, Procurement, and operational teams to strengthen organisational resilience.
  • Oversee resilience assessments for critical third-party suppliers, ensuring appropriate continuity arrangements, contingency planning, and exit strategies are in place.
  • Review supplier resilience capabilities and monitor ongoing compliance with organisational standards.
  • Promote a culture of resilience through awareness initiatives, coaching, and engagement across the business.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a small team responsible for operational resilience, business continuity, and supplier resilience activities.
Skills, Knowledge and ExperienceEssential
  • Proven experience in Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, Enterprise Risk, or a related discipline within a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of operational resilience principles, regulatory expectations, and business continuity best practice.
  • Demonstrable experience establishing or enhancing resilience and business continuity frameworks.
  • Experience managing resilience risks associated with outsourced or third-party service providers.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
