A leading specialist commercial insurer is looking to hire a technically credible Data & Analytics Manager to support the continued evolution of its cloud data platform. Despite the title, this is not a traditional people management role and equally not a pure hands-on engineering position. This is a role for someone who can combine strong technical understanding with commercial awareness, stakeholder management, and the confidence to challenge external delivery partners.

  • Managing relationships with external MSPs, consultancies, and delivery partners
  • Reviewing technical output and challenging poor design, engineering, or delivery decisions
  • Ensuring third-party partners are delivering against agreed technical standards and business expectations
  • Acting as the internal technical escalation point for data platform delivery
  • Partnering with senior business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Supporting architecture decisions across cloud data engineering and analytics
  • Driving governance, documentation, testing standards, and production best practice
  • Supporting broader enterprise transformation and analytics initiatives
  • Acting as the internal voice of technical credibility across the data function.

  • Strong experience with modern cloud data platforms
  • Deep GCP knowledge, particularly BigQuery
  • Experience with Medallion / Lakehouse architecture
  • Strong SQL and data engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with Microsoft BI tooling
  • Experience working with or overseeing MSPs / outsourced technical delivery teams
  • Ability to challenge consultancies and hold vendors accountable
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating in a visible, stakeholder-facing environment
  • Someone commercially aware, pragmatic, and technically credible
