A well-established specialty insurance organisation is building out its permanent internal data capability to support growing demand across underwriting, operations, and finance. This is a senior-level role operating at the intersection of business analysis, data architecture, and enterprise change. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping how data is structured, governed, and delivered across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the initiation, discovery, and delivery of data-led initiatives across multiple workstreams.
- Apply structured business analysis and change management frameworks within a mature, governance-led environment.
- Take ownership of smaller data projects and enhancements from discovery through to BAU.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of data business analysis standards, tooling, and ways of working.
- Capture and define requirements with a data architecture mindset, ensuring downstream solutions are scalable and fit for purpose.
- Work confidently with conceptual, logical, and physical data models, data warehousing, and analytical data platforms.
- Define requirements using data flows, lineage, source-to-target mappings, and reporting specifications.
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and Data Architecture / Engineering teams, ensuring clarity and alignment.
- Embed data governance principles into delivery, including data ownership, controls, and standards.
- Support data quality assessments, issue identification, and remediation definition.
- Ensure consistent data definitions and usage across domains.
- Align delivery with enterprise data strategy and regulatory expectations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Translate complex data concepts into clear, pragmatic recommendations.
- Support adoption, change, and transition of solutions into business as usual.
- Act as a trusted advisor on data-related decisions.
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst on data-centric initiatives.
- Strong conceptual understanding of data architecture and data warehousing (hands-off is fine; understanding is critical).
- Experience working within structured, governance-heavy delivery frameworks.
- Ability to explain data concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Insurance experience (London Market desirable but not essential; wider insurance backgrounds considered).
- Exposure to SQL, Power BI, SSRS, or similar data and BI technologies.
- Experience partnering closely with Data Architecture teams.
- Familiarity with tools such as Visio, Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, Miro.
