Arthur have partnered with a Lloyd's managing agency to support with their search for a senior Interim Head of Compliance to support the function with day-to-day compliance activity across the business. This role requires someone who has previously operated at head of level within a managing agency, with strong leadership capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate confidently across regulatory, conduct, and financial crime frameworks.
Core Responsibilities
- Leadership & Deputising
- Act as deputy to the Compliance & Governance Director, supporting delivery of the annual compliance plan, including monitoring, reporting, and regulatory engagement.
- Provide leadership and oversight to junior members of the Compliance team.
- Represent Compliance in senior internal and external stakeholder meetings.
- Financial Crime & Sanctions
- Provide high-quality sanctions advice to internal stakeholders and managed clients, in line with agreed SLAs.
- Oversee sanctions referrals and escalation processes.
- Support wider financial crime controls where required.
- Framework, Monitoring & Assurance
- Support the ongoing compliance monitoring plan, including oversight of testing, findings, and remediation.
- Review assigned risk controls on a quarterly basis, ensuring issues are identified, escalated, and addressed.
- Review and update compliance policies annually and draft new policies where required.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 27001 / ISMS requirements, including oversight of team compliance.
- Regulatory & Conduct
- Monitor and analyse regulatory developments, producing clear and practical updates for staff and managed clients.
- Support Conduct Risk and Complaints activity as required.
- Ensure adherence to PRA/FCA Conduct Rules and regulatory expectations.
- Lead and deliver compliance training, both online and face-to-face, for staff and managed clients.
- Lloyd’s & Client Activity
- Lead regular compliance meetings with managed clients, providing pragmatic regulatory advice.
- Support the on-boarding of new managed clients and the migration of exiting clients.
- Lead the annual capacity and auctions process in line with the Lloyd’s capital timetable.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience operating in a Head of Compliance role within a Lloyd’s managing agent.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK insurance regulation and its practical application.
- Demonstrable experience across:
- Sanctions
- Compliance monitoring and assurance
- Regulatory and conduct risk
