Our client is seeking a part‑qualified or near‑qualified actuary to join their London office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step up, gain greater exposure to senior stakeholders, and help embed a robust financial risk framework across the organisation.

In this role, you will lead internal model validation activities, including the review of remediation actions, and support the assessment and management of financial risks and controls in line with the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework, strategic objectives, and regulatory requirements. You will also contribute to project work by providing financial risk expertise and second‑line oversight where required.
You will play a key role in ensuring financial risk exposures and controls are effectively monitored and reported, supporting strong decision‑making, identification of emerging risks, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of ERM with challenge, oversight and risk opinions on financial risk matters, including capital, reserving, exposure management, pricing, business planning, solvency and climate‑related risks.
- Lead independent validation of the internal model, ensuring it meets all regulatory standards; conduct annual parameterisation reviews for operational risk modelling.
- Coordinate and manage external consultancies engaged in financial risk or modelling projects.
- Support the development and embedding of risk appetite metrics and other key risk indicators.
- Contribute to Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA), including assessments of emerging and climate‑related risks.
- Support the production of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) report and coordinate stress and scenario testing.
- Represent the financial risk function at committees and sub‑committees as required.
- Build strong internal and external relationships, including with group colleagues and external advisors.
- Support strategic and regulatory projects, regulatory submissions and responses to supervisory requests.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of technical developments, regulatory requirements and industry practices.
- Assist with broader Legal, Risk and Compliance activities when required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Part‑qualified or near‑qualified actuary with general insurance experience.
- Experience within the Lloyd’s market in capital or risk functions is highly desirable.
- Strong technical proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools; ability to conceptualise and articulate solutions to complex problems.
- Proven ability to produce board‑level reports and communicate complex topics clearly to varied audiences.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Able to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and build strong relationships at all levels.
- High attention to detail and a diligent, methodical approach to work.
