A leading specialist commercial insurer is looking to hire a technically credible Data & Analytics Manager to support the continued evolution of its cloud data platform. Despite the title, this is not a traditional people management role and equally not a pure hands-on engineering position. This is a role for someone who can combine strong technical understanding with commercial awareness, stakeholder management, and the confidence to challenge external delivery partners.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Owning technical oversight of the organisation’s modern data platform
- Managing relationships with external MSPs, consultancies, and delivery partners
- Reviewing technical output and challenging poor design, engineering, or delivery decisions
- Ensuring third-party partners are delivering against agreed technical standards and business expectations
- Acting as the internal technical escalation point for data platform delivery
- Partnering with senior business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Supporting architecture decisions across cloud data engineering and analytics
- Driving governance, documentation, testing standards, and production best practice
- Supporting broader enterprise transformation and analytics initiatives
- Acting as the internal voice of technical credibility across the data function.
What They’re Looking For
- Strong experience with modern cloud data platforms
- Deep GCP knowledge, particularly BigQuery
- Experience with Medallion / Lakehouse architecture
- Strong SQL and data engineering fundamentals
- Experience with Microsoft BI tooling
- Experience working with or overseeing MSPs / outsourced technical delivery teams
- Ability to challenge consultancies and hold vendors accountable
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in a visible, stakeholder-facing environment
- Someone commercially aware, pragmatic, and technically credible
