About the Role
The role is responsible for ensuring that all policy wordings accurately reflect the intended insurance cover, align with the organisation's risk appetite, and are clear, fair, and not misleading in accordance with applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. Through the provision of expert technical advice, the role supports underwriting and distribution teams in achieving commercially appropriate outcomes while protecting the interests of the business and its capital providers.
Responsibilities
- Review, negotiate, and agree policy wordings and contractual documentation in a timely manner, maintaining expert knowledge of insurance contracts and market practice.
- Draft and review policy wordings, clauses, summaries of cover, and application forms to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance with legal, regulatory, reinsurance, and internal governance requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to underwriting teams on wording interpretation, coverage intent, and contractual risk management.
- Identify and escalate wording-related risks, ensuring appropriate controls and governance are maintained.
- Support the development and implementation of wording standards, templates, and best-practice guidance across the business.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, brokers, and clients to facilitate the delivery of clear, accurate, and commercially effective policy documentation.
