Your main focus will be building strong relationships with underwriters and carriers, enabling you to negotiate competitive and sustainable terms for our clients.
As part of our Real Estate Broking team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the wider business, developing effective placement strategies and ensuring strong market relationships are established and maintained. This role is predominantly based out of our London office, with occasional travel needed to any of the following locations: Bournemouth, Chichester, Woking, or Birmingham.
How you'll make an impact:

- Work closely with new business producers to position prospective opportunities effectively with insurers and improve our success rate through considered and tactical market engagement.
- Develop placement strategies for a range of Real Estate risks, including commercial property owners, residential property owners, managing agents, developers, investors and other property-related businesses.
- Work with and support the Broking Director in establishing and developing insurer relationships, while evaluating carrier appetite, performance, service delivery and overall proposition.
- Engage with insurers to manage identified pipeline opportunities and ensure they have a clear understanding of our Real Estate growth strategy and target business.
- Maintain a strong understanding of insurer appetite, capacity, coverage developments and emerging market trends across the Real Estate sector.
- Build a network of internal and external contacts through effective relationship management.
- Act as a conduit for market feedback, providing the Real Estate business with relevant insight on insurer appetite, pricing, capacity, coverage and service.
- Support the management and escalation of insurer service issues where necessary, reporting through to the Broking Director.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Real Estate, Claims, Risk Management, Construction and other specialist areas to deliver effective client solutions.
- Support the development of alternative placement structures where appropriate, including layered and co-insured programmes, excess layers, portfolio placements and other bespoke market solutions.
- Represent the placement team at internal, insurer and client meetings, increasing the team’s visibility and demonstrating the value of a coordinated placement strategy.
- Travel as required to support the Real Estate business and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, insurers and clients.
About You:
- Previous experience as a Placement Broker or Real Estate Broker is desirable.
- Experience of placing or underwriting Real Estate and Property Owners risks, including an understanding of material damage, business interruption, property owners’ liability and associated covers.
- An understanding of complex property portfolios and the key underwriting considerations relevant to commercial and residential Real Estate risks.
- Experience of casualty, terrorism, legal indemnities, engineering, environmental or construction-related risks would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Experience of layered, co-insured or complex placement structures would be advantageous.
- We are also happy to consider an Account Handler, Account Broker, Account Executive or Underwriter with relevant Real Estate experience and a strong interest in developing a placement-focused career.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with insurers, colleagues and senior stakeholders.
- Commercially aware, with the ability to understand insurer appetite and align placement strategies with client requirements.
- Holding or working towards a Chartered Insurance Institute qualification, such as Cert CII or Dip CII, is desirable.
- Experience of working to targets within a regulated and measurable framework and achieving agreed service levels.
- Risk-aware when handling client and business information, with the ability to recognise potential issues and seek advice when required.
