Overview
Gallagher Specialty is looking to hire an Actuarial Consultant for their highly dynamic and growing team. The role supports broking divisions by providing analytical services for existing large clients, assisting in tenders and new business activities, and contributing to the development and implementation of new products, including software and technology initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is skilled in actuarial analysis and consulting.
Primarily the role will support Risk Financing and design Insurance optimisation strategies for large corporate clients. In addition, various Gallagher divisions require a full portfolio statistical/actuarial analysis including but not necessarily restricted to: – Rate analysis and rate adequacy, deductible and lapse impact analysis, exposure analysis regarding accumulation and aggregation issues for underwriters.
How you\’ll make an impact
- Develop statistical models for the frequency and severity of claims to analyse alternative insurance programme structures that may include self-insurance retentions, captive insurance companies or mutual
- Present risk financing outcomes and technical information to a broad audience including risk managers, C-suite execs and brokers.
- Perform Risk Tolerance analysis of financials to help clients understand their ability to withstand insurance losses
- Oversee reserving studies for corporate and public sector clients with large self-insurance retentions.
- Price and design cat-exposed property programmes using RMS and AIR output.
- Provide actuarial input into captive feasibility studies and formation.
- Conduct dynamic financial analysis and capital studies for captives.
- Manage your own time include deadlines and prioritisation of projects.
- Mentor and review work performed by junior colleagues including promoting a curious and learning environment.

About you
- Strong communication and presenting skills.
- Knowledge of Specialty insurance lines.
- University degree required in appropriate numerate/quantitative discipline
- Associate or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Working knowledge of wither Python or R.
- Exposure to cat modelling software (RMS, AIR) would be beneficial.
