Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Pension Actuarial Consultant. The role holder will play a crucial role in ensuring that all client tasks and assignments are executed accurately and efficiently. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.

How you\’ll make an impact

  1. Prepare and coordinate letters and reports with minimal direction.
  2. Supervise phases of actuarial valuations and special projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  3. Prepare material for and attend client meetings, making presentations to clients and prospects.
  4. Own the implementation of new services and assist scheme consultants with the consultancy aspects of pension schemes.
  5. Coordinate and review project assignments to ensure timely and accurate work products.
  6. Assist in the development and presentation of proposals for consulting services.
  7. Proactively provide consulting services and develop responsive solutions.
  8. Attain billable hours objectives by applying acquired skills in the production of client deliverables.
  9. Take personal responsibility for the timeliness and quality of work performed, ensuring tasks are completed within budget.
  10. Explain and help clients analyze the pros and cons of alternative means available for addressing their needs.
  11. Use relevant tools of the trade, including regulator’s guidance, accounting standards boards’ statements, and internal consulting expertise.
  12. Maintain contact with clients regarding work product and client inquiries.
  13. Listen to clients to understand their problems and articulate solutions.
  14. Seek to grow client relationships and continuously improve the efficiency of our services to remain competitive.
  15. Consult with other GBS lines of business regarding projects and expanded client relations.
  16. Assist in the preparation of client invoices.
  17. Assist in hiring, training, and motivating junior staff, providing feedback and managing performance as necessary.
  18. Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate within a team environment.
  19. Assist in improving work processes and organizing, delegating, and supervising the work of junior staff.
  20. Act on new opportunities, accepting challenges and responsibilities.
  21. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the marketplace benefits products.
  22. Increase knowledge by participating in and running training activities.
  23. Bring in more experienced personnel as appropriate for situations or assignments.
  24. Share work product with other consultants across the company.
  25. Pursue actuarial credentials through continual professional development.
  26. Peer review and ensure own work is peer-reviewed as appropriate.
  27. Maintain accurate time recording and charging to clients where applicable.
  28. Keep abreast of applicable regulatory bodies.
  29. Adhere to Corporate Policies and Procedures (CCPs).
  30. Report any suspected breaches to management or compliance department upon discovery.

  3. Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and carry out tasks within deadlines.
  4. Strong numeracy and literacy skills.

  7. Computer literate.
  8. Proven management skills.
  9. FIA/FFA qualified.
