Join our Pen Claims team as a Marine Claims Handler. Based in London with a hybrid working model. You will manage a portfolio of marine claims, including cargo, hull, and marine liability from notification to settlement. You will work closely with clients, brokers, and underwriters, providing excellent service and technical expertise.
This role offers the chance to make a real impact in a collaborative and supportive environment by contributing to the development and improvement of the marine claims function and processes.
How you’ll make an impact:
- To investigate, negotiate, and resolve marine claims in accordance with policy terms and conditions, best practices, and service standards.
- To maintain accurate and timely records of claims data, correspondence, and financial transactions in the claims system.
- To communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, such as clients, brokers, underwriters, surveyors, lawyers, and regulators.
- To monitor and manage claims reserves, payments, and recoveries, ensuring compliance with internal and external guidelines and regulations.
- To identify and report on trends, issues, and opportunities related to marine claims, and propose solutions and recommendations.
- To participate in claims audits, reviews, and training, and provide feedback and support to colleagues and managers.
- To keep abreast of market developments, legal updates, and industry best practices in marine claims.
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the Marine Claims Manager or senior management.
About You:
- Experience in handling marine claims, preferably in an insurance company or a broker.
- A relevant professional qualification, such as CII, ACII, or AMIM, or working towards one.
- A sound knowledge of marine insurance products, policies, and markets.
- A strong analytical and problem‑solving ability, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse stakeholders.
- A self‑motivated and proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to cope with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in using MS Office applications and claims systems.
