Overview
The Assistant Vice President, Insurance Management - Catastrophe Bonds is responsible for delivering high-quality management and administration services to a portfolio of catastrophe bond and other insurance linked security entities throughout their full life cycle.
The role acts as a senior day-to-day contact for clients and transaction stakeholders, provides review and oversight across key deliverables, and supports the continued development of consistent processes, controls and technology-enabled service delivery
- How you’ll make an impact
- Provide accounting and administrative services to a portfolio of catastrophe bonds and other insurance linked security entities.
- Oversee the full operational life cycle of assigned catastrophe bond transactions, including incorporation and onboarding, regulatory registration, issuance, ongoing reporting and servicing, and liquidation.
- Act as a senior day-to-day contact for a variety of catastrophe bond stakeholders, including (but not limited to); sponsors, structuring agents, deal counsel, trustees, banks, regulators and other service providers.
- Coordinate key transaction activities, including monitoring premium receipts, coupon payments, distribution of deal documentation, payment of expenses and completion of both internal and external KYC (Know Your Customer) requests.
- Monitor client compliance with relevant laws and regulations in conjunction with the Client Service Director and Compliance team, elevate issues promptly and support remedial action where required.
- Perform a review function on specific client working paper files, management accounts and IFRS/GAAP financial statements.
- Coordinate, prepare and review regulatory filings and communicate applicable compliance requirements to relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise with client personnel and service providers.
- Prepare meeting materials and deliver clear, professional presentations at client meetings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement systems, tools and processes that support timely, accurate and consistent client service.
- Support the standardisation of processes, controls and the effective use of third-party applications and platforms, including Synergy.
- Follow all policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations and internal risk control standards.
- Contribute to ACS Dominant Priorities and the strategic direction of the company.
- Assist with development and monitoring of internal systems and controls to ensure they remain effective and fit for purpose.
- Maintain and enhance technical and industry knowledge through relevant professional and educational opportunities.
- Lead and contribute to other projects and business initiatives as assigned.
About you
- A professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA).
- At least 3 years’ recent (re)insurance experience in financial reporting or accounting with a (re)insurer, Insurance Manager or audit firm.
- Experience in insurance-linked securities or catastrophe bond insurance management is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the Bermuda and/or Cayman (re)insurance market and regulatory environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and U. S. GAAP including an excellent understanding of insurance and investment accounting standards.
- Strong financial reporting, analytical, organizational and time-management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Experience and current working knowledge of reporting from general ledger systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to changing requirements and deliver accurately within deadlines across multiple time zones.
- Highly motivated individual who is deadline driven and committed to delivering an excellent level of client service.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
