Overview
We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Employer Liability and Public Liability Claims Handler to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing defence insurance claims up to £100,000, ensuring efficient and effective handling of each case. This role requires a strong understanding of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) guidelines and all relevant legal aspects related to liability claims. The position operates on a day rate basis or a fixed term contract.
How you\’ll make an impact
- Manage and process employer liability and public liability claims up to £100,000, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Conduct thorough investigations into claims, gathering necessary documentation and evidence to support defence strategies.
- Liaise with clients, claimants, solicitors, and other stakeholders to facilitate the claims process and negotiate settlements where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with MOJ guidelines and all legal requirements throughout the claims handling process.
- Analyse and interpret policy coverage, liability, and damages to determine appropriate action on claims.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for each claim, maintaining accurate records and files.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop effective defences strategies.
- Update brokers and insureds regularly on the status and progress of claims, ensuring clear and transparent communication.
- Stay updated on industry trends, legal developments, and changes in regulations affecting liability claims.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
About You
- Proven experience in handling employer liability and public liability claims, preferably within an insurance or legal environment.
- Strong understanding of MOJ guidelines and legal aspects related to liability claims.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, brokers, and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
- Relevant qualifications in insurance, law, or a related field are preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
