Overview
At Gallagher, weâre looking for an Underwriting Team Leader to join our Gallagher Real Estate team, based out of our Guildford office.

You will provide leadership and support for a Team of 5 Underwriting staff with varying levels of experience.
How you\’ll make an impact
- To work alongside and support the Head of Real Estate Underwriting whilst managing the process and performance of a team of 5 Underwriters.
- Deal with complex referrals when needed.
- Champion compliance and adhere to internal and external regulations.
- Provide oversight and technical support to Gallagher colleagues. Seek, to improve business knowledge, capability and enhance your personal development along the way!
- Act as the main escalation point for the team and support on how to resolve any issues to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Manage and stay on top of the teamâs workloads and allocate accordingly to make sure standards are maintained.
- Run monthly performance meetings, carry out regular 1-2-1s with the Team and annual performance reviews and appraisals.
- Champion data integrity and make sure all details entered into our platforms by the team is accurate.
- MI reporting and presentations to internal stakeholders.
About you
- Team Leader experience would be preferable. We are open to considering Senior Underwriters looking to step up into a Team Leader role.
- Holding or working towards one of the Chartered Insurance Institute Qualifications, Cert CII, Dip CII or ACII would be an advantage. Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, with an intermediate knowledge of the commercial insurance industry.
- Previous experience in the insurance industry, as is having worked to targets within a regulated, measurable framework and achieved SLAs.
- Risk aware in handling client information, 100% client centric, focussed on the best possible outcome for our clients at all times.
- Due diligence and process driven to deadlines, task focused, results oriented and takes initiative when assisting team members!
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, confident when building and maintaining rapport, strong planning and analytical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS office, specifically strong Excel skills.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
