A leading specialty insurer and reinsurer is seeking an experienced Capital Modelling Actuary to take ownership of key economic capital models and play a pivotal role in the continued development of the firm's capital framework.
This is a newly created leadership opportunity sitting within a well-regarded capital function, offering significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to directly influence business strategy.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end ownership, enhancement and embedding of economic capital models across multiple insurance and reinsurance entities. Unlike many capital roles, this position is focused more on economic capital and business decision-making, rather than Lloyd's regulatory capital reporting.
A key focus will be ensuring model outputs are embedded across the business and actively used within strategic planning, underwriting, capital allocation and risk management decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance and enhancement of economic capital models
- Own model parameterisation, calibration and reporting processes
- Drive model use and business embedding initiatives
- Deliver insights to executive stakeholders and committees
- Support business planning, capital allocation and strategic decision-making
- Lead model development projects and methodology improvements
- Manage and develop junior actuarial team members
- Work closely with underwriting, exposure management, reserving and risk teams
Requirements
- Qualified Actuary (IFoA or equivalent)
- Extensive capital modelling experience within general insurance
- Strong understanding of economic capital frameworks
- Proven experience embedding model outputs into business decision-making
- Previous people management experience
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Igloo experience highly advantageous
