We are seeking an experienced and proactive Manager to take full responsibility for the management, safety, and efficiency of our warehouse and day picking operations. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the building’s care, including stock control, staff supervision, logistics, warehouse systems and maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The Warehouse Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the site is fully compliant with BRC audit requirements. The role requires ensuring that the facility operates smoothly, efficiently, and is maintained to the highest possible standards at all times.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring goods are received, stored, and dispatched efficiently.
- Oversee day-to-day day picking operation.
- Take full responsibility for the care, upkeep, and presentation of the warehouse buildings, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety, fire safety, and security regulations, conducting regular checks and risk assessments.
- Implement and monitor safe working practices, providing training and guidance to staff where required.
- Manage warehouse and pick room staff, including scheduling, supervision, and performance reviews.
- Oversee stock control and inventory accuracy, implementing robust systems to reduce loss, waste, and errors.
- Maintain and optimise warehouse management systems, ensuring smooth functionality and accuracy of all data.
- Monitor operational KPIs and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, safety, and cost control.
- Act as the main point of contact for building-related issues, including contractors, inspections, and facility management.
- Take full responsibility for ensuring the site meets BRC standards across all areas, maintaining all necessary documentation and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse management or a similar supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, stock control, and logistics.
- Experience in maintaining and improving warehouse management systems.
- In-depth understanding of health & safety legislation and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and solve problems effectively.
- IT literate with experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) and MS Office.
- Flexible and proactive approach to work.
Experience
- Relevant qualifications in logistics, warehouse management, or health & safety (e.g., IOSH).
- Experience in implementing and maintaining operational practices that ensure ongoing compliance with BRC standards.
