About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the design of temporary works systems including propping, falsework, formwork, access platforms, excavations and temporary structures
- Take ownership of design packages from initial concept through to delivery with assistance from senior engineers
- Prepare and check engineering calculations, reports, drawings and technical documentation
- Apply relevant standards and guidance including BS 5975, Eurocodes and industry best practice
- Produce practical, buildable and cost-effective design solutions
- Liaise directly with clients, contractors and site teams to understand project requirements and provide technical support
- Undertake site visits, inspections and technical reviews as required
- Coordinate multiple projects and manage workload to achieve programme commitments
- Support graduate and junior engineers through mentoring and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, health and safety compliance and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
- Proven experience (c3 years) in temporary works design
- Good understanding of temporary works principles, construction methodologies and structural analysis
- Experience producing design calculations and technical reports
- Appreciation of buildability and practical site constraints.
- Familiarity with BS 5975, Eurocodes and current temporary works practices
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients, contractors and colleagues
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Proactive approach to problem solving and delivering practical engineering solutions
- Full UK driving licence with flexibility to attend client sites
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
- Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, or a desire to achieve professional qualification through the Institution of Civil Engineers or a relevant professional body
Additional Information
- The role may require travel (including occasional overnight stays) across the UK and overseas, depending on project requirements
