About the Role
Key Responsibilities- You will be working on and/or managing the delivery of industrial projects from concept to detailed design.
- You will provide technical leadership on specialist blast-resistant structural design and assessment projects.
- You will be confident in leading technically complex structural projects.
- You will take a lead role in the development and growth of the specialist team. This will include recruitment, mentoring, development and training of staff.
- You will have excellent communication skills liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
- You will manage and control project budgets and resources.
- You will play a key role in design risk management and mitigation.
- You will support the development of project proposals and tender submissions.
- You will work with Directors, Business Development and Marketing teams to develop business opportunities with new and existing clients.
- You will meet clients to define scopes of work and develop proposals.
About You
- You will have significant experience in an engineering consultancy, with particular expertise in specialist blast design & assessment.
- You will be able to demonstrate technical excellence in structural design, particularly relating to blast-resistant structures.
- You will have an in-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards and guidance relating to blast design.
- You will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of determining blast loadings and methods of structural analysis.
- You will have expertise in the design / assessment of reinforced concrete, steel, and other materials for blast resistance.
- You will have proficiency in specialist engineering software for blast analysis and structural design.
- You will have experience in leading and developing technical resources in the delivery of blast resistant structural design.
- You will be highly experienced in writing clear and precise technical reports and comfortable presenting findings/recommendations.
- Experience of line‑management and staff mentoring would be beneficial.
- Can work to tight timescales and manage multiple projects at once.
- Competent with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Full UK driving licence and the ability to attend client sites, as required.
Qualifications
- You will hold a BEng, MEng or MSc qualified in Civil / Structural Engineering.
- You will be chartered with IStructE or ICE.
