We are looking for a talented Ecologist with a proven track record in ecology and biodiversity. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to further their career and gain more experience in these specialist markets.
What The Role Entails
Arthian is recruiting for an Ecological Consultant to support the growth of the Ecology & Biodiversity Team in Scotland. Whilst the location can be flexible, we are ideally looking for someone who can commute to our offices in Inverness c. once per week.
Qualifications and Experience
- A BSc and/or MSc in Ecology or related discipline and a Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
- A minimum of 3 or more years previous experience preferably in an environmental consultancy.
The following skills are considered essential to the role:
- Ecological surveys and assessments (ornithological and/or habitats a benefit).
- Managing site and survey teams.
- Producing high-quality ecological reports and method statements (e.g. PEAR, EcIA, HRA).
- Ecological Clerk of Works experience.
- Assisting in ecological project management and budget management.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
The following skills would be advantageous, but are not an essential requirement for the role:
- A protected species licence holder (great crested newt, bats, badger and/or water vole).
- Hold valid CSCS status and Outdoor Emergency First Aid.
- Biodiversity Net Gain and/or habitat management plans.
- Experience of working in upland environment.
- Experience of stakeholder consultation, such as with NatureScot, SEPA and local planning authorities.
- A willingness to be inventive and creative in developing ecological solutions to novel problems.
