The Role

As our first Sales Engineer in the UK, you'll be the technical force behind enterprise security sales. You'll partner with Account Executives to win complex deals, lead deep technical discovery, and demonstrate how Artemis solves real security problems for SOC analysts, security engineers, and CISOs. You'll architect proofs-of-value, navigate procurement and security reviews, and serve as the trusted technical advisor from first call through close. This is also an opportunity to shape how we build our technical go-to-market practice in the UK market—you'll help establish playbooks, best practices, and messaging that scales as we grow in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical deep dives, tailored demos, and solution walkthroughs for enterprise security teams across the UK and Europe.
  • Run structured technical discovery to understand customer security posture, existing tooling (SIEM, EDR, SOAR, identity), and integration needs.
  • Design and validate customer-specific solutions that meet technical, security, compliance, and business requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical owner in pre-sales, partnering closely with Account Executives on deal strategy.
  • Answer complex questions around product architecture, detection logic, scalability, data handling, and deployment.
  • Support pilots, POVs, and technical validation efforts in customer environments.
  • Address technical objections and advise on best-practice deployment, rollout, and detection tuning strategies.
  • Lead responses to security questionnaires, RFPs, and vendor risk reviews (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA where relevant).
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security Research, and customer teams to unblock deals and share field insights.
  • Build and evolve UK-specific technical sales playbooks, demo narratives, and positioning.
  • Contribute to pre-sales resources and messaging that serve the broader go-to-market team.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or similar pre-sales technical role in B2B cybersecurity.
  • Comfortable leading technical conversations with security practitioners, architects, and CISOs in complex enterprise sales cycles.
  • Strong understanding of modern security architecture: identity, endpoint, network, and cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, and common log sources (CloudTrail, Okta, endpoint telemetry, etc.).
  • Familiarity with detection frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK) and threat modeling.
  • Comfort with APIs, scripting (Python, Bash), and query languages (KQL, SPL, SQL).
  • Able to clearly explain complex technical and security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Trusted, credible, and customer-oriented in high-stakes sales environments.
  • Comfortable managing multiple deals and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting enterprise or technically complex security sales motions.
  • Background in security implementations, technical program management, customer onboarding, or post-sale handoffs is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (OSCP, GCIA, GCIH, CISSP, cloud security certs) is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience as a software engineer.
  • Hands-on cybersecurity background (SOC/detection engineering, incident response, offensive security, cloud security, security engineering).
  • Experience in the UK or European security market.
  • Experience building technical sales motions in early-stage SaaS/security companies.

Right to Work & Visa Sponsorship

You must have the right to work in the UK. We're licensed to sponsor Skilled Worker visas for candidates who don't already have working rights.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: £180,000 - £200,000 per annum (depending on experience).
  • Equity: Top-of-market equity component.
  • Pension: Auto-enrollment pension scheme.
  • Location: Remote.
  • Other benefits: Health insurance.
