Reporting to: Packaging Manager
We are recruiting a Packaging Technologist to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting own-brand and private-label NPD projects from concept through to launch. This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll take ownership of mid to high complexity packaging projects, ensuring solutions are robust, cost-effective, and delivered right first time. Working closely with suppliers, production, and NPD teams, you’ll play a key role in translating ideas into manufacturable, high-quality packaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead packaging development for NPD projects within a manufacturing environment
- Brief, manage, and liaise with suppliers on component specifications, tooling, artwork, and testing
- Coordinate colour matching, cutter guides, and specification approvals
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including specifications, pallet plans, and NLFs
- Attend production trials and first production runs to ensure packaging performs as intended
- Track and clearly communicate project progress, risks, and priorities
- Support Packaging Coordinators and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in packaging development, ideally within FMCG or manufacturing
- Strong technical knowledge of plastic and glass packaging components and production processes
- Confident managing multiple projects and working cross-functionally
- Hands-on, detail-driven, and solutions-focused approach
- Manufacturing experience is advantageous
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable in a fast-moving environment
