Area Sales Manager - North East England Technical Sales | Electrical & Industrial Automation | Field-Based Location: North East England – Home Based Can you sell, build relationships and talk technical without sending everyone to sleep? We're looking for a cracking Area Sales Manager to take ownership of an established North East territory, develop new business and build lasting relationships across the electrical and industrial automation sectors. If you know your OEMs from your system integrators, can hold your own in a technical conversation and enjoy getting out and about meeting customers, we'd love to hear from you. And if you're the sort of person who'd rather be out winning business than sitting in endless Teams meetings discussing why nobody's winning business, even better! What's the job, then? You'll be responsible for developing sales across the North East, looking after existing customers while identifying new opportunities to grow the territory. This isn't a role for someone who waits for the phone to ring. We're after somebody proactive, commercially switched on and comfortable opening doors as well as keeping them open. You'll be: * Managing and growing your own sales territory across the North East. * Building strong relationships with distributors, panel builders, OEMs, system integrators and end-users. * Identifying new business opportunities and converting them into long-term customers. * Developing existing accounts and introducing additional products and solutions. * Working closely with internal sales and technical colleagues to deliver the right solutions. * Taking ownership of your sales targets, pipeline and territory performance. * Keeping your CRM updated (we know, nobody's favourite part of the job, but it does need doing!). * Representing the business at customer meetings, industry events and exhibitions. What are we looking for? First and foremost, someone who knows how to sell technical products, understands their customers and can build genuine relationships. Ideally, you'll bring: * At least 3 years' experience in external or field sales. * A proven track record of winning new business and developing existing accounts. * Experience selling into OEMs, panel builders, system integrators or electrical distributors. * An understanding of electrical components, industrial automation or related technical products. * The confidence to speak with engineers, technical decision-makers and commercial buyers. * Strong territory management and organisational skills. * A full UK driving licence. An electrical engineering qualification would be a bonus, but we're just as interested in someone who's learned their trade out in the field and knows the market inside out. What sort of person will fit in? Someone who's down to earth, motivated and genuinely enjoys sales. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own diary and getting stuck in without somebody looking over your shoulder every five minutes. A bit of personality goes a long way, too. We're looking for someone who can build rapport, have a laugh with customers and still get down to business when it matters. No corporate waffle, no hard-sell nonsense. Just good old-fashioned relationship building, technical knowledge and the ability to deliver results. Why consider it? You'll be joining an established business operating in the electrical and industrial automation market, with the opportunity to make a real impact across your territory. You'll have the autonomy to manage your area, develop customer relationships and contribute to the company's continued growth, supported by experienced internal sales and technical colleagues. Fancy a chat? If you're an experienced technical sales professional based in the North East and this sounds right up your street, we'd love to have a conversation. You don't need to have a perfectly polished CV ready. Sometimes a good conversation is the best place to start
